Fibromyalgia
is a common syndrome in which a person has long-term, body-wide pain and tenderness in the joints, muscles, tendons, and other soft tissues.
Fibromyalgia has also been linked to fatigue, sleep problems, headaches, depression, and anxiety.

There is no known cause.  But doctors say these may be factors in it.

  • Genetics. Because fibromyalgia tends to run in families.
  • Infections
  • Physical or emotional trauma

How Your Doctor Determines you have Fibromyalgia 
  • Widespread pain lasting at least three months
  • At least 11 positive tender points — out of a total possible of 18

Treatments


Western
  • Analgesics. Tylenol and Advil, basic pain relievers.
  • Antidepressants. Duloxetine (Cymbalta) and milnacipran (Savella) may help ease the pain and fatigue associated with fibromyalgia.
  • Anti-seizure drugs.
Alternative 

  • Acupuncture
  • Massage therapy
  • Yoga and tai chi.
